Domestic Hefeweizens
Ok ok so I still think Aaron's questions in the previous posting warrant some serious discussion (anyone gonna stick up for my Darth Vader of beers, Heineken Light??), but I also have a (relatively speaking) important question that's been rolled around for a while - anyone know a decent domestic (American) hefeweizen? Not for lack of not trying (I think between Colin and me, we've probably sampled upwards of twenty different ones), but I've never found one that really impresses me. I just had the Pyramid Brewery Hefeweizen from Whole Foods and it was pretty good, but.. eh, overall boring. A nice enough clean summer drink, but nothing to write home about. I think my fave widely available bottled one so far is prob the Shiner Hefeweizen out of Texas, because it's good and yeasty and cuts nicely with an orange, but... there's got to be more than this in our great United States, yes? Maybe something on draft somewhere?
First of many...we'll see
Enter, sit down, be quiet, DONT TOUCH EACH OTHER, and welcome to the first posting of WFT, beer edition. The purpose of this little blog, in my mind, though that could change, is to introduce different beers from around the world and quite simply to argue about which of them are the best. Simple, succinct, and to the point. But for the first post, I think we should do something simple.
What are best and worst cheap domestic (American) beers? In other words, if you're low on cash or you just want to get blackout which one do you pick (or as many people I talk to say, can you even taste the difference).
